Joe the Plumber is one of the most important Swing Voters in the 2008 Presidential Election. Both Major Presidential Candidates are so focused on securing Joe the Plumber’s support that they spent the majority of their final debate talking directly to this single Swing Voter.
But why does Joe the Plumber merit 25 mentions in 90 minutes?
First of all, Joe the Plumber lives in Ohio, a critical Swing State in 2008.
Secondly, Joe the Plumber claims he makes more than $250,000 a year, which is an incredible feat for any American these days, let alone a high school dropout who earns his living on all fours.1
Turdly, Joe the Plumber has the ability to influence the voting habits of his brother-in-law, Joe Six Pack.
And most importantly, Joe the Plumber is a metaphor for the situation that will face our next President, because Joe the Plumber spends his days cleaning up other people’s shit.
